Club Activities
“Wonderful Saturday” Weekly Hiking Event
Since “Wonderful Saturday”-1 was organized on March 10, 2018, more than 120 mountain hikes have been organized on weekends.
Club workouts and survivors’ running events at Central Park
Club members who are interested in running are continuously practicing running 4-6 times a week for the whole year under the guidance of a professional trainer in the cold season, at the sports hall, and in the warm season at the National Park.
“Achilles Travel” Program
Since most of our members with disabilities have never traveled to the natural beauty of Mongolia, we organize long-distance trips 4-5 times a year.
Participation in domestic competitions
In order to improve the success of their athletes and to support people who are interested in running, the team actively participates in major domestic competitions. In 2022, at the 15th All-People’s Sports Games and at the National Para Athletics Championships, we took first place in the team standings and became the cup winners. Also, at the Ulaanbaatar International Marathon, our athletes won first 3 places in the para-category half marathon.
Organizing running competitions
In order to encourage everyone to run and to earn income for the organization’s activities, we are organizing various running events and competitions for other organizations and communities.
The National Park supported the activities of “Achilles Mongolia” organization and granted permission to build an area named after Achilles.
So, with the donation of F. Robert Russo, Gerlee, Thomas, Georgina, Richard, and Kathy, the Russo family, who support our activity, in 2020, 2 passive houses with storage and changing rooms for athletes were built and started operation.
In the harsh climate of our country, the warm season lasts only a few months, and the biggest difficulty for disabled runners is the lack of a place to gather, change clothes, and keep their belongings at the park. All these difficulties were solved by the building of the Achilles accessible house.
A small bus was purchased through donations to transport disabled members to participate in hiking events, long-distance trips, and competitions.
